Numismatically Speaking

After reading this article, I started thinking about my own coin "collection": 1. where is it? and 2. how many wheat pennies do I actually have?

The answers: 1. in a Ziploc in my bedroom and 2. 170 (after creating an Excel spreadsheet to tally by year and minted location).

Why, yes, I am a dork.

My oldest coin is one of these, from 1875. Sadly, mine is quite worn and not worth a dime (ha ha). My oldest wheat penny is from 1911 (they started minting them in 1909).

I also have one of these, from 1945, and it's in very good shape.

While my year at the bank was absolute h-e-double hockey sticks, I am grateful that I was able to increase my coin collection :)

Would you care to hear about my foray into stamp collecting next?
